Naomi Miller hails from Brooklyn. She is a multidsiciplinary artist with a backgound in photography whose recent work explores the idea that her social interactions with friends and family members measure her engagement with the world. Naomi is also the Program Coordinator at Artadia.

Now that the 2012 Residents have settled in to their awesome communal studio, we wanted to see if we could get a bit more of a sense of their studio practices, working habits, and their personalities. So, we asked each of them to answer a series of questions ranging from their artistic fantasies to their favorite foods.  See how Naomi answered our questions...

Born in the Philipines and currently residing in Brooklyn, Francis Estrada is a visual artist, Museum Eduacator at MoMA, and freelance educator of Filipino art and culture. His artwork uses strategies of omission, blurring and fading of visual information to examine both his own and the viewers' perceptions.

So, we asked each of them to answer a series of questions ranging from their artistic fantasies to their favorite foods.  Here are Francis's responses...

The 2012 Residency has begun!

The 2012/13 Residency for Arts Workers as Artists kicked of last Friday night, August 10, 2012. Each of the seven new residents told us a little bit about their past and ongoing projects, shared their plans for the three-week intensive period of the residency, and got to know each other over a lively group dinner.  The 2012/13 group of artists is Jonathan Durham, Francis Estrada, Elizabeth Hamby, Jamie Kim, Naomi Miller, Sarah Walko, and Howard Halle. Check back soon for more updates as the 2012 residency gets rolling!

Artsministratist?? A Conversation with the 2011/12 Arts Workers as Artists Residents

Last Wednesday, August 8th, EFA Project Space hosted Artsministratist?? A Conversation with the 2011/12 Arts Workers as Artists Residents, marking the end of the 2011/12 Residency.  The "graduating" residents got together to share stories, work, and discuss the particularities of negotiating between an independent art practice and a demanding position at a cultural organization.  Although it means that the 2011/12 residents are moving on, the graduates will coninue to be involved as alumni, and we are looking forward to a Residency exhibition next summer where you might see more of them.  Of course, as the 2011/12 Residency comes to a close, we are also excited to welcome our brand new group of residents for the 2012/13 Residency!

Check out some photos from the event below:
