With Chris Berg away for the week, week two has been big on choreography and discussions about the "problematic concept of 'the grateful orphan,'" as well as each cast member's character development. Highlights from the project's Artist-Organizer, Kara Hearn
Last week...
- we collaboratively wrote the lyrics for two group songs (the title song, Unnamed Broadway Musical: The Musical! and Bright Red Lipstick which is based on Angela's story of wanting to wear bright red lipstick but not feeling like she can because it is too bold).
- I interviewed each cast member about the need they hope to fulfill by being in the project.
- Cast members worked individually and in pairs to begin developing their characters and writing lyrics for their individual songs. Sarah and Chris's provided support for this process while Pia worked with cast members to develop the physicality of their characters.
