Word-Less
June 3 - July 23, 2010
Featuring live performances, photography, video, sculpture and installation works by Michael Paul Britto, Brendan Fernandes, Duron Jackson, Fabienne Lasserre, Jason Lujan, Rashaad Newsome, Min Oh, Roxana Perez-Mendez and Carolyn Salas.
Word-Less is an exhibition that explores aspects of “blind” communication: narratives transmitted though gesture and/or symbolism rather than the written word. With its deliberate disconnect, the title of the show emphasizes and plays on ideas of tension and connection. Some works are an emphatic expression of this tension, while others suggest the displacement or negation of the written narrative.
