Allow the pioneers of trace monotypes, Paul Gauguin and Paul Klee to inspire you to create a new series of work.  In this workshop we will explore negative and positive trace monotypes. This expressive form of mark-making can be very fluid and gestural and can be done without a press! If you want to release some of the control sometimes associated with printmaking this is a great way to let loose and develop a series of imagery quickly.  You will leave class with a small series of new prints from one class. (4-8 prints depending on the individual) We will discuss ideal methods for modifying your inks and the best paper choices for this technique. Paper registration will be considered in order to selectively add color to these pieces..  We will play with various approaches to develop these prints and add new layers of thought to these spontaneous works.   Bring a few ideas, images, prints or drawings to serve as your inspiration for this new series or work.  No prior experience necessary.

All suplies for this class are provided by RBPMW. Click here to download the supply list and see what each student will receive: Trace Monotype Supply List (PDF)
