Learn to draw on rocks and print from them! This class is an introduction to the art of stone lithography. Beginning with the basics, you will be guided step-by-step through the process of creating a lithograph. You will learn how to prepare your stone, how to manipulate various drawing materials to create imagery, how to prepare your paper with proper registration, how to use a printing press, and how to produce your very own edition of prints! All skill levels are welcome.

This workshop will give you a jumpstart on the basics of stone lithography. You will have the opportunity to draw on this amazing and unique surface and learn how to print an edition of single-color prints. Perfect for the printmaker who wants to learn this traditional method of lithography in one short session. Each student will have a stone to draw on.

Devraj Dakoji was born in Dharmoj, Andhra Pradesh and has exhibited in galleries and museums throughout the world. He was appointed as Chief Supervisor of Graphic Studios, Dept. of Art, Garhi, Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi in 1977 and as Commissioner and jury member, 2nd Graphic International Print Biennial, Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal in 1991. He has been a part of the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop for many years, teaching many classes, organizing international portfolios and printing for Robert Blackburn while he was alive.
