Using the workshop

Any artist can use the studio to make their own prints by simply becoming a member ($35 annual membership fee) and purchasing hours.  All of our studio use fees are designed based on the realities of a working artist.  We offer flexi-passes that let you chose when you use your hours as well as unlimited use blocks by the month or year.  Artists that have no previous printmaking experience will need to enroll in a printmaking course prior to purchasing hours to familiarize yourself with basic techniques and the studio.  We have a staff of monitors to provide basic assistance in the studio and help you settle into our community workspace. Visitors are welcome during our open hours so come by and check out the shop.

RBPMW Facilities

RBPMW is a 4,000 square foot air-conditioned, fully vented lithography, intaglio, relief, and digital printmaking workspace located in mid-town Manhattan, just blocks from Penn Station and Port Authority. With more than 150 stones, up to 32″ x 48″, capabilities for aluminum and photo plates, and four presses, we offer the only co-operative lithography facilities in New York City.

We have five intaglio presses, up to 40″ x 70″, and a vented acid room allowing for etching zinc with nitric acid and copper in vertical, ferric chloride tanks.  Our digital lab is equipped with 4 iMacs, CS4 and a Canon 1300 Ink Jet Printer.

We sell basic supplies at the workshop (select paper, copper plates, photo-litho plates, etc.) offer classes and have two private editioning rooms available for rent. 

Studio Use Fees

Annual Membership $35*
*Valid for one year from date of payment

Printshop time
Once an artist has become an RBPMW member they can purchase hours to work in the printshop.
Hours are valid for one year from date of purchase.
Half Day and Full Day passes can not be broken up over multiple days.

Digital Lab Time
$5 per hour
