EFA Project Space currently seeking candidates for its fall internship program, which runs from September 2013 through December 2013.
Internship descriptions are listed below. Exhibition/Project Internship:
The Exhibition/Project Intern works closely with program staff on structured projects that are determined by each candidate’s interest and experience. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: artist communications; researching and compiling supplemental materials for programs; formatting information for the website, exploring opportunities for collaboration; seeking appropriate sponsors; assisting with publicity and coordination of events; overseeing the gallery during exhibitions, answering questions and providing the public with information.
Project focus this fall:
I) Last Year at Marienbad Redux, opening September 12th and taking the form of an exhibition, public program and publication in development with The Bureau for Open Culture
II) Residency for Arts Workers as Artists, an exhibition dedicated to the first 4 years of EFA Project Space’s alumni and current residents
III) 2014 exhibition planning and research
Candidates should be motivated, detail-oriented individuals with a demonstrated dedication to the arts. The Exhibition/Project Internship is a collaborative, hands-on position that requires strong writing, research and communication skills, resourcefulness, and the ability to multi-task in a small non-profit environment. Applicants must have a background in the fine arts or art history, be organized, responsible, and detail-oriented with professional phone manner and sound computer skills. Proficiency in Adobe CS and Microsoft Office, and FileMaker Pro.
Gallery Internship:
The Gallery Intern will assist with day-to-day operations, reception and administrative tasks for EFA Project Space. This internship offers valuable experience in a professional arts environment. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: general reception duties (answering phones, greeting visitors), compiling artists’ packages and materials, email correspondence, retouching images, and light database work.
Applicants should be organized, responsible, and detail-oriented individuals with strong writing ability, professional phone manner and sound computer skills. Must be able to carry out assigned tasks independently and feel comfortable working on multiple projects at once. Proficiency in Adobe CS, Microsoft Office, and FileMaker Pro is preferred.
This is an unpaid internship; therefore, we encourage candidates who may use this experience for college credit. A minimum of two days per week commitment is recommended. Interns will also have the opportunity to work with EFA’s other major programs—EFA Studio Program and EFA’s Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop Program.
