Everything that EFA Project Space has done has been a first for us, including this -- our first appeal to our community for support. Since the EFA Project Space program was launched in September 2008, we have operated on a very small budget and a LOT of adrenaline

With programming accessible to everyone who walks through our door, our primary aim is to be a source of enrichment for artists, curators, cultural producers and art enthusiasts that comprise the evolving arts community.

EFA Project Space acts as a mirror of the creative process- presenting a continuing exercise in investigation and interaction. Our ongoing conversation presents a human exchange that is timely, playful, sometimes mildly chaotic, and has included inquiries into:

arctic adventures;
artists assisting artists to make stuff;
bizarro universes;
boats;
collaborative enterprises;
conceptual printmaking;
cupcake art;
craft and the power of handmade pizza cushions;
desperate living, freaks, psychoanalysis and mass culture (with popcorn);
ephemera galore;
fog machines, loud music, and a hand-crafted zine library;
representing arts workers who are artists as artists;
rogue acts of expression and creative mischief making;
rubber bands, free art, and the economy of exchange;
tools for the artist of the twenty-first century.

We have already produced twelve exhibitions, 40 events free and open to the public, and shown the work of over 150 artists. In the New Year, we look forward to artists deconstructing the art world, the next arts workers residency, more boats, exercises in poetic translation, large scale performance installation, an unusual public art project, and much more!

A bit about the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts that is often misunderstood: it is a service foundation, providing affordable space, tools and opportunities for artists. It is not a grant-giving entity and does not have an endowment.

Please keep the momentum going. We ask you, our audience, our participants, to consider a fully tax-deductible donation of $25, $50, $100, $250, $500, $1000. Any amount makes a difference.  Your contributions help pay for an event, a panelist honorarium, an artist stipend, the production of new work and public programs.

To make an online donation to our program, please click here: Once you have made your contribution, please be sure to fill in the form specifying you would like this amount to go directly to EFA Project Space! To make a donation by mail, or an in-kind donation, click here for the proper contact information.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all of You-- artists, organizers, and participants, who have built this program.

With warmest wishes for the New Year,

Michelle Levy

EFA Project Space, a program of the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts, was launched in September 2008 with a focus on the investigation of the creative process, aiming to provide dynamic exchanges between artists, cultural workers, and the public. The Project Space presents exhibitions and programs in collaboration with a diverse range of organizations, curators and artists to provide a comprehensive and critical perspective on creative practices. A major aspect of the program's development is ongoing outreach to the myriad individuals and institutions effectively shaping culture today.
