Exhibition and Program Proposal Guidelines

EFA Project Space is currently seeking proposals for exhibitions and programs on a rolling basis only. Prospective proposals are reviewed and planned within 6 months to a year after application submission.

About EFA Project Space:

A multidisciplinary art venue re-imagined from the EFA Gallery, EFA Project Space was launched in September 2008 with a focus on the investigation of the creative process, aiming to provide dynamic exchanges between artists, cultural workers, and the public.

EFA Project Space presents a rigorous series of exhibitions and programs that expand the discourse beyond the gallery. We collaborate with a diverse range of organizations, curators and artists to provide a comprehensive and critical perspective on creative practices. Artistic merit is the first criteria, and a major aspect of the program’s development is ongoing outreach to the myriad individuals and institutions effectively shaping culture today.

Art is directly connected to its producers, to the communities they are a part of, and to every day life.  By contextualizing and revealing these connections, we strive to bridge gaps in our cultural community, forging new partnerships and the expansion of ideas. Through these synergies, artists build on their creative power to further impact society.

What we are looking for:

EFA Project Space seeks proposals from curators, artists, and organizations for exhibitions that present a unique lens through which to view the creative process, providing a critical and thoughtful platform for experiencing artwork. We are seeking exhibition ideas that accentuate connections between artists and practices, setting the stage for reciprocal interaction and conversation that could be drawn out into a larger context. We look for exhibitions that would do one or all of the following: provide opportunities to further expand on existing projects/ ideas; complete new work based on a provided framework; and engage in cross-disciplinary exploration. We welcome proposals that challenge the format of the exhibition, that are broad in scope rather than singular in focus, and lend themselves naturally to original public programming.

We do not accept proposals for solo shows at this time.

Requested materials:

1)    250 – 500 word written description of the proposed exhibition in .doc or .pdf format
2)    8-20 images of the work to be shown or, if the work is not yet created, recent work of all artists involved. Images should be in jpg format, at 700 pixels wide on the longest side. all moving image/video/sound work should be sent as a link or on CD/DVD.
3)    Image description list including: title, date, dimensions, medium, and a short descriptions if relevant
