This work is an attempt to make contact with the values of the alchemical process, that is the transformation of a work in this case painting, into an image. The beginnings of the work through its detours and mistakes, its failures and doubts, its hidden messages as they travel through a course of transformation. This transformation ultimately leads to a state or statement before the viewers eye. What is seen at this point is what we take away from it at a quick glance. Does it merit more than this? That is up to the sensibility of the viewer. If time is given to the work, perhaps contact can be made with some of its history which is mentioned above. If that process is valued then perhaps the viewer will stay. We live in a time where quick digestive attitudes allow us to consume and then leave the table in a hurry to move on to ones next engagement. Painting on the other hand is an art form that requires a slower melody, a stillness not only of itself but also that of the viewer.
