Jena H. Kim
The arrangement of cubic forms and simple bold lines express a sense of abstract structure in my paintings and installations. The works combine exaggerated perspectives and multiple viewpoints to capture fictional dimensions and architecturally impossible spaces. Featuring geometric shapes and lines, a schematic display of the structure carries out external and internal tension of the space. The exaggerated, multiple, and illusionary three-dimensional perspectives and discontinuous lines reverse negative and positive spaces that generate an eye-deceiving effect.By contrasting natural textures with rigidly designed surfaces, the abstract compositions portray what I perceive as the "concrete" order of architecture in a playful view of invented space.
